Tis The Season To Be Kinky!!!!!!

Please forgive me...Its been awhile since I've taken the time out to post something. With work, family, moving, and the holidays, I've been REAL lazy with my hair. I thought by wearing my hair in a two-strand twist out, I would be saving me some time. But I found myself not wanting to re-twist it at night. So I went back to my "Go To" style....the puff!
Here are a few pics of how I've been rocking my kinks for the past few weeks. Below each pic will be a description on how I got these (easy) styles.

Enjoy!

Chunky Two-Strand Twist Out
I did my two-strand twist bigger than normal, (I was too tired to do them my normal size...LOL)! I wasn't to thrilled the way they came out. I wasn't feeling my sides. So I decided to pin the sides back. Who would had thought that doing something so simple could change up a style. I ended up liking it!
Products Used:
Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner and Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme (I was going for a softer look, so I didn't add any Curly Meringue or Gel)

Two-Strand Twist Out Puff
With this style, I pulled my hair into a puff by using an old Goodie Handband that I doubled up. I used my spray bottle of water to lightly damp my hair, to help me pull my hair back.  What I did different this time around with my puff was that I two-strand twisted the ends at night, and then unravel them in the morning.
Products Used:
Water, Shea Moistures Curl Enhancing Smoothie, Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue, and Eco Style Olive Oil Gel (on edges)

Same style as the pic above.
Only thing different is that I jazzed it up with one of my daughter's Christmas handbands.

Introducing...My First Bantu Knot Out!

The Bantu Knots are something I have to get used to. It's not my favorite style, but something I can definitely work with. Practice makes perfect!

PRODUCTS USED / STYLING METHOD

Giovanni Direct Leave-In Conditioner
Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue

1. After washing, conditioning and detangling my hair, I separated my hair in seven sections (using butterfly clips to hold each section).

2. Starting from the back, I would part each sections into four individual sections, (preparing to knot).

3. Add the Curly Meringue to the section.

4. Starting from the roots, start to twirl your hair.

5. Once you start twirling, the hair closest your roots should start to bend (knot). Once it does, use your index finger to hold it down.

6. Start wrapping your hair around that knot.

7. When you get to the ends, you can either tuck it under the knot or use a bobby pin to secure the knot.

8. Continue knotting the rest of your hair.

9. When finished, cover hair with a satin bonnet or scarf.

THE OUTCOME
Not too bad....a little frizzy, but not too bad!

The Simple Cure to a Bad Hair Day

Today my hubby waits until the last minute to tell me that we needed to go run some errands.

Now Saturdays are normally my "Wash, Detangle, and Set" Day. So my hair was not prepared to be making any public appearances.

So I went to my trusty accessories drawer! Pulled out my beenie, hoops, and shades. Added some gloss to my lips....and I was ready to go!

The Simple Cure to a Bad Hair Day!

What's yours?

Revitalizing a Days Old Twist Out: Part II - Curly Meringue Edition

So as you all know, I'm on a Miss Jessie "high" right now!

Last Saturday, I did a two strand twist with the Curly Meringue. I then unraveled the twist on Monday to wear a twist out.

The Curly Meringue was fantastic on my hair. With the help of the Baby Buttercreme for moisture, my curl pattern lasted all week!

The pics below are different ways I wore my hair throughout the week.

S/N: I jazzed up my hair a bit by flat two strand twisting the other side of my hair, (to match the left that was already twisted from the start). I didn't have to re-wet it at all. My hair was uber soft, so I used my fingers to part my hair.

Overnight Care
Everynight I would re-twist my hair in chunkier twist with the Baby Buttercreme. And then sleep with a satin bonnet.
